After he plans were discovered, Harding had finished eighth in the competition, barely avoided a jail sentence and was banned from the sport.

Known for being Wayne Gretzky's bodyguard while with the Los Angeles Kings, Marty McSorley was tacked with a year suspension and 18 months probation in 2000 for "slashing" another player while under contract with Boston. That may be harsh but the opposing player suffered a grade three concussion.

Last year when he was under contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, pitcher Mike Leake was "given time off" after he was caught shoplifting six t-shirts at a Macy's department store. Leake was also handed 30 hours of community service because of his actions.

In 2006, former Detroit Lions defensive line coach Joe Cullen was arrested and charged for driving naked through a fast-food drive-through window. The reason for his suspension and fine? His blood alcohol level at the time was at a .12.

A former college football standout, NFL receiver Golden Tate was charged for trespassing in 2010 after entering a Top Pot donut shop with colleagues. The reason behind the charge? Tate and co. entered the shop to eat and take a few donuts.

Not afraid of being on the camera off the field, NFL wide receiver Randy Moss allegedly hit a traffic officer after she stood in front of his car to stop him because of an illegal turn. Along with being charged for possession of marijuana, Moss faced a suspension, a small fine and was ordered to community service.

Though Metta World Peace is over his Artest days, the forward was often hated for his actions in the Indiana Pacers-Detroit Pistons matchup in 2004. After an altercation with other players on court, the NBA athlete attacked fans in the crowd when a drink was thrown his way. Artest was then suspended 86 games.
5: Najeh Davenport
NFL running back Najeh Davenport was suspended for part of his season with the Green Bay Packers in 2002 after he reportedly broke into a coed's dorm room and defecated in a laundry basket. Davenport continued to fight against the charges laid upon him claiming there wasn't any evidence.
4: Darius Miles
Throughout his career, basketball forward Darius Miles has been involved in his fair share of incidents but his worst was being arrested at the St. Louis airport in August 2011. TSA officials discovered a loaded gun in Miles' carry on gear during x-ray screenings and was taken to the city's jail before being released.

Hockey players can sometimes lose their cool and since the Bertuzzi-Moore incident, the NHL has been persistent on handing out fitting suspensions. Vancouver Canucks winger Todd Bertuzzi was given 17-month leave of absence in 2004 for allegedly punching and seriously injuring an opposing player in the back of the head while on the ice.

A man of many accolades (3 World Series, 17-time All-Star and a one-time MVP), the legendary MLB player was investigated in 1989 for betting on baseball games. After finally admitting his faults in 2004, Rose was suspended indefinitely from the Baseball Hall Of Fame.
1: Latrell Sprewell
One of the most embarrassing suspensions in the history of professional sports, NBA shooting guard Latrell Sprewell tagged with a 68-game suspension after choking his head coach during practice. The Golden State Warriors player got into an altercation with coach P.J. Carlesimo about his work ethic and then attacked him on the ground before throwing a punch 20 minutes later.
