Held-over from the 80s, fluorescent windbreakers dominated the early 90s with short collars and snaps, and designs that clothiers nowadays might even deem "illegal."
10: Demin Overalls
If there is one fashion trend that spanned the entire 90s decade, it was denim overalls; sported from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" to NSYNC.
9: Fred Durst's Red Cap
Loved them or hated them, Limp Bizkit was topping the music charts at the turn of the millennium. And replicas of front man Fred Durst's fitted, red NY ball cap were flying off retailers' shelves.
8: Slap Bracelets
A "slap on the wrist" never looked as good as it did in the 90s. (Especially when you consider how many colors and designs those crazy bracelets came in.)
7: FUBU
If the middle school/high school in your town were anything like mine, you saw a lot of peeps walking around in FUBU jerseys and sweatshirts. The brighter, the better.
6: Gap (commercials)
Khakis never looked so cool as they did in Gap's late-90s ad campaign.
5: LA Lites
All the cool kids from the playground to the skate park were rocking light-up sneaks.
4: Super Baggy Jeans
Back before the great "skinny jean epidemic," denim was worn as loose as possible, on both men and women. The baggier, the cooler.
3: Scary-high Platform Shoes
Before they were creating musicals and marrying hunky soccer stars, the Spice Girls were late-90s pop sensations. And fashion icons, notably the starters of obnoxiously-high platform shoe craze. Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell's signature stage look included a pair of bright red platform boots.
2: Knee-High Socks & Clogs
Let's face it: Everything that Alicia Silverstone wore in "Clueless" had an affect on the fashion world. But her signature miniskirt ensembles wouldn't have made 90s fashion infamy without those knee-high stockings and flashy clogs.
1: The Un-Buttoned Flannel
There might not be anything more quintessentially grunge rock than on opened-up flannel with a graphic tee underneath. Although baggy flannels started making a comeback a few years ago, they will always be reminiscent of Kurt Cobain and grunge's heyday.
