Made popular by Lady Gaga, the Armadillo shoes were probably the first that got McQueen attention as a shoe designer. They're certainly strange, but that's not a bad thing in the fashion world. Strange starts a trend, and these shoes have gotten popular enough that people have created DIY tutorials because, did we mention?, they're impossible to get. They exist on the runway and Lady Gaga's feet.

Okay so these are pretty weird too, but you know what? It's McQueen. What do you expect? Besides that, these double heeled shoes are actually inspired by geta, traditional shoes worn by Japanese geisha. Hey, look at that! You learned something new!

Structured and edgy, yet flirty and fun - perfect for Florence Welch here, and a perfect example of McQueen's knack for combining the harsh and rigid with the light and delicate.

Skull Pumps
We know: pretty simple. Probably not what you were expecting. But we lurve these pumps. Classic black peep-toes, but with stitched wings up the sides, gold details on the heels, and the McQueen skulls at the toes. We can dig it.

Tulip Heel
Alright, so we like embellished heels. And these ones are way cool. See, there's two kinds of embellished heel (maybe, we don't know, we're not shoe experts): heels that have cool things on them, and heels that ARE cool things. These are the latter.

Western Buckle Boots
These aren't your typical boots, cowgirl. With embossed and layered floral print leather, western-style brass buckles, bold square gold toes, and teardrop heels, these boots might not be made for walking, but they're made for stopping traffic.

Beaded Angel Wing
As part of Alexander McQueen's last collection before he died, these cathedral-inspired angel wing shoes are a sadly ironic or perhaps tragically poetic addition.

There's heel covered in crystal and then there's heel that ARE crystal. McQueen takes the cake for bringing new meaning to the term "walking on broken glass."

Alright, so we don't know if these are actually supposed to be aliens, but they look like thing from "Alien" so we're going with aliens. Point is, no one but McQueen could make shoes likes this. Again, there's shoes that have cool things on them, and then there's shoes that ARE cool things.

Like have an unspeakably gorgeous gilded forest at your feet. And who wouldn't want that? We love these because they are so very McQueen, combining strength and fragility to create a new definition of what's feminine and fashionable.

Angel Shoes 1
These are stunning. That's all there is to it. Sculpted angels form the heels and soles, silver and crystal embroidery form the boots for a pair of shoes that are nothing short of angelic.

Also, like the last pair, from McQueen final collection, Fall 2010. The angelic theme is impossible to avoid, and perhaps that's a good thing. These shoes are amazing.
