15 Swoon-Worthy Wedding Dresses

#15 Expensive

This dress, created by designer Renee Strauss and Martin Katz Jewelers is the most expensive dress of all time. Not surprising since it's encrusted with 150 carats worth of diamonds. The dress was made to celebrate a 2006 bridal show, and values a whopping $12 million. No one bought it.

15: Expensive
This dress, created by designer Renee Strauss and Martin Katz Jewelers is the most expensive dress of all time. Not surprising since it's encrusted with 150 carats worth of diamonds. The dress was made to celebrate a 2006 bridal show, and values a whopping $12 million. No one bought it.
14: Theme
Designer Alfred Angelo has created two lines of fairy tale dresses. We're really not kidding with the fairy tale part. Both collections feature dresses inspired by the Disney Princesses. Our favorite, featured here, is for Belle.
13: Short
Not all wedding dresses need to be sweeping, floor-length gowns. The majority of the pieces from Marchesa Spring 2012 bridal collection are charming, lacy cocktail dresses like this one.
12: Winter
While summer tends to be "wedding season," plenty of couples choose to get married in the winter. And while most opt for a heated indoor ceremony and reception, there's nothing wrong with embracing the weather. This Fiona Clare gown is so unique and perfect for a cozy winter wedding.
11: Mermaid
With cascading folds of satin and organza, this Vera Wang mermaid gown certainly looks befitting of its name. The layers of material definitely give it a marine feel.
10: Lace
Lace: timeless and elegant, feminine and sophisticated. Perfect for any bride. This Romona Keveza dress is simply stunning.
9: Embroidered
This beautiful dress comes from Kekopean Stitches, a company that specializes in embroidered wedding dresses. When ordering from them, brides can choose from a wide variety of embroidery colors. You're going with a green and purple theme? Why not embroider your dress to match?
8: Printed
Though maybe not for everyone, printed wedding dresses are beginning to catch on, especially in designer Angela Sanchez 2012 bridal line. Who knows if the trend will last, but for now, we think printed gowns like this are absolutely lovely.
7: Belted
Belts are always a great accessory, no matter what the occasion. When it comes to wedding dresses, a belt can be a great way to add a splash of color or some added sparkle, like this Vera Wang piece. It could even be personal, a way of slipping in a something borrowed or something blue.
6: Asymetrical
A wedding dress with an asymmetrical hem could be great for a beach or garden wedding; no need to hold up your hem just to move. With a ruffled skirt like this Coast dress, the folds cascade perfectly to suit a relaxed outdoor wedding.
5: Colored
Hey, it's your wedding; who says you have to wear white? Dita Von Teese's purple dress worn for her wedding with Marilyn Manson was designed by Vivenne Westwood (who else?) Huge and vibrant and so very Dita.
4: Suit
Whether it's for a second wedding, a lesbian wedding, or you just like pants, a bridal suit is a very stylish option. This Fabyan lace pant suit is classy and feminine and perfect for the unique bride.
3: Royal
We had to feature at least one royal wedding gown, but we couldn't pick, so here's two. Both Kate Middleton, for her wedding to Prince William, and Grace Kelly, for her wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, donned long-sleeved lace dresses befitting of their classic beauty.
2: Fictional
If you've seen the first installment of the last Harry Potter film, you'll recognize this dress. And if you haven't, the rock you're living under probably doesn't have WiFi so you're probably not even reading this. Fleur Delacour's wedding dress is absolutely gorgeous. Never mind the fact that it's almost exactly the same as a 2008 Alexander McQueen dress.
1: Avant Garde
Go big or go home, right? There are some crazy wedding dresses out there, and a lot of them are downright hideous. This 2010 Christian Dior Haute Couture origami wedding dress, however, is actually pretty striking. Would we wear it? No. Would someone else? Probably.
