16: Be Appropriate in Length
People do not want to read a novel when they are trying to first see who you are. Try to make the content count and give a good description of who you are without the fluff.
15: Have Fun!
Online dating is not supposed to be a chore. It can be frustrating to be single and want to be in a relationship, but when it's right it will happen. Don't try to rush love.
14: Tweaking
Remember that things change, and your profile will have to as well. Be sure to update it every now and then to make sure that it's current and correct.
13: No Talking About Work
This s a first impression and talking about your job is not a great starter. There will be plenty of time later to worry about things like that.
12: Pictures with a Pet
If you have a cute dog or cat, it is okay to put a picture of you and it, but only if there is room for more than one picture and it's not your main one. Having a pet shows some responsibility that is good to see in another person.
11: Include Hobbies
Many times people are so stressed when making the profile that they forget to include what makes them who they are. Chances are that you are looking to meet someone like you, so putting down your hobbies is important.
10: Be Confident
Remember that whoever is reading the profile cannot see your body language. Make things sound confident and positive. Avoid saying things like "I don't know what to write about myself."
9: Be Creative
Do not write "Ask me anything", as this is probably what a lot of people have. Be confident and ask something that you would really like to know right away.
8: No Pictures with an Ex
This kind of goes without saying, but doing this gives out the wrong impression. Almost as if you are not over her... This includes cropped pictures!
7: Don't Be in the Picture with Anyone Else
This is supposed to be an attempt to find a date. They want to see you and not your friend.
6: Be Yourself
Use the description to your advantage. Don't try to target people with you description, because this will only make you have to be someone you are not later on.
5: Create a Headline
Use your imagination here. If you are a funny guy play this up and make it funny. Remember that this is what is going to make the other person keep reading or move on.
4: Don't Brag
People do not like to be with the narcissist who is always bragging about their accomplishments. Tone it down and things will be much better.
3: No Lies
Starting out a relationship on a lie, even a cyber-relationship, is a no-no. Just because "everyone" lies doesn't mean you should follow the norm.
2: Picture
Be sure to use a recent picture that really tells the other person how you look. There is nothing worse than setting up a date and realizing that the person has aged 15 years overnight.
1: Username
Be sure that it's something catchy and clever. This will stand you out from the rest of the people.
