The face of Walt Disney is believed to be one of the singing busts in the Haunted Mansion ride. If you see the busts in the right light, this myth is proven not true.
9: Plane replicas were used in both rides and movies.
The plane used in the Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the same one used in the film, Casablanca. This is false, although the plane was used in other films, including Tarzan’s New York Adventure.
8: Walt Disney left a movie for after his death.
Walt Disney himself is believed to have left a video of himself giving instructions on how the company should be ran after his death. This is false, as Disney left the operations of the company up to his brother Roy O. Disney, who then left it to his son.
7: Disney Park employees refused entry to long-hair men.
Men who had long beards, mustaches, or hair were refused entry into Disney Parks during the 1950s. There is true, as Disney wanted the company to portray a clean, wholesome image.
6: The Haunted Mansion is based on a Pennsylvania Hotel.
Many believe that the Haunted Mansion at Orlando’s Magic Kingdom is based off of the Harry Packer Mansion. This Pennsylvania Hotel was used a reference for the new Haunted Mansion.
5: There is a private club in Disneyland.
Club 33 is a real club located in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. It is a private club, is not widely known, and is the only place in Disneyland Park where alcohol is served.
4: A guest died during the scary introduction of the Haunted Mansion.
This is false, as no guest has ever died on the Haunted Mansion ride. Only small changes have been made to the ride since it first opened.
3: The Haunted Mansion’s Bride ring can be found in the cement.
If you go to Disney, there is a ring that can be found in the cement at the exit of the Haunted Mansion. This is not actually a “ring”, but a brass piece of metal once used to hold a pin for the gate closure.
2: There is a club called “Club 21” at Walt Disney World.
This private club is through to be located near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. This is false, although there are corporate lounges within Walt Disney World.
1: Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen.
This is the most famous Disney myth. His body is believed to be hidden in a “chamber” beneath the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Documentation shows his body was cremated 2 days after his death.
