#14 Taryn ~ 22 ~ Detroit, MI

 
Taryn is a newbie in many different ways. She never before auditioned until she auditioned for The Glee Project. And, after she won her spot, she took her first airplane trip from Detroit to the studio in LA. Taryn is an aerialist and, when she's not hanging from a trapeze, she enjoys cooking and painting.

13: Shanna ~ 21 ~ Auburn, AL
Look at her picture closely and then give us your best guess on her musical instrument. Ready? Tuba. Correct. How did you know that? In addition to her musical activities, Shanna is involved in swimming, softball and basketball. She's a student at Auburn University.
12: Lily Mae ~ 18 ~ Cape Cod, MA
Hey, hey, Lily Mae, what do you have to say today?! Here she is in all her glory, boys and girls, Lily Mae. "I want to convince people that a full-figured woman can be any show's leading lady," Lily Mae says. This powerhouse comes from a musical family and has been performing in musical theater for the past 6 years. Lily Mae is a student at Westminster Choir College. --Go get 'em, honey!
11: Ali ~ 24 ~ New York, NY
Since she was 6, Ali has been acting and singing in New York City. Ali is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of Arts. Since she was 2, Ali's been paralyzed from the chest down and has used a wheelchair. Ali says, "I want to entertain people first and foremost and inspire other people with disabilities who want to pursue a career in performance."
10: Aylin ~ 19 ~ Chicago, IL
Aylin represents the Muslim community on this season's Glee Project. Her family's originally from Turkey. To say the least, she's having trouble lining up what her traditional family expects with her goals. Aylin studies vocal jazz performance at Roosevelt University and says, "I'm constantly pushing the cultural boundaries in my life and music."
9: Nellie ~ 19 ~ Tacoma, WA
And then there's Nellie, the youngest of the women on this season's Glee Project. Since she was 11, she's been performing, first as a singer with a swing band. Since then, she's learned to play piano and guitar and taught herself how to write music. To help support herself, she works as a barista in her favorite performance spot. Nellie loves all the arts, especially photography.
8: Dani ~ 23 ~ Orlando, FL
Dani's from the Magic Kingdom. She was bitten by the performance bug when she was in 5th grade and place 2nd in a talent competition. She's been busy since then what with teaching herself how to play guitar, write songs, and independently releasing four albums and two singles. Dani says she's very interested in cultivating her androgeny and leaving her Mormon faith.
7: Abraham ~ 24 ~ San Diego, CA
Heeeeeeere's Abraham. Abraham's back-up plan is to attend law school and practice entertainment law. He's already been admitted to law school. In the meantime, Abraham is working as a legal aid and a bartender in San Diego. He's practicing his performance skills on the street where he regularly entertains the homeless. Abraham says he relates better to women than men and he says this is probably because he didn't have a father figure when he was growing up.
6: Charlie ~ 22 ~ Chicago, IL
Oh, dear. Charlie has severe ADHD and is autistic. Even still he has been performing for 15 of his 22 years on earth including one night when he found himself in an alley in Vienna, Austria. Charlie has overcome his disabilities to earn a BFA from the University of Illinois, Champaign - Urbana.
5: Blake ~ 19 ~ LA, CA
Okay. Stick with me on this. Blake is a professional parrot salesman. --Really. When he isn't giving people the bird, he's pursuing his other passion, acting. And when Blake isn't treading the boards, he drums and juggles. And ... he has that Justin Bieber haircut.
4: Mario ~ 24 ~ Lanham, MD
Yo! Ma-Ri-O! Mario is familiar with hard times. He was born a triplet and his mother died while the 3 were still infants. Then he was diagnosed with Morning Glory Syndrome which caused him to go blind when he was 9. Since Mario was 15, he's performed in school concerts and gospel choirs at Washington DC area churches. In addition to singing, Mario dances, acts, and plays the piano, guitar and drums. In his copious free time, Mario is a motivational speaker, comedian, celebrity impersonator, and a voice-over artist.
3: Maxfield ~ 22 ~ Nashville, TN
Yee-Haw, here's the fellow from Hee Haw country. I spy with my two eyes, a handsome young ginger with blue jeans, a flannel shirt and guitar -- the three prerequisites for success in Nashville. Before you get too excited, Maxfield is a virgin and wears a Promise Ring to remind him to maintain his chastity and "treat women with respect." --Uh. Okay. --I guess. Maxfield is relatively new to the entertainment business having step on stage for the first time only last summer. He's a singer / songwriter and a student at something called Full Sail University.
2: Michael ~ 18 ~ Chicago, IL
Here's Tyler, the baby of the bunch at 18. Tyler isn't all about talent and good looks. He's deep. Tyler loves calculus and wants to study it as much as he can. The problem is, there's isn't much white space on his calendar. Michael has been a professional performer for 8 years already and is a member of a professional blues band. As a solo act, he's performed at the House of Blues in Chicago and then sprinted off around the world to Tokyo. You know Michael is the name of an angel, don't you? And I can see that in his dreamy eyes.
1: Tyler ~ 21 ~ Boca Raton, FL
Fasten your seatbelt because we're taking a ride on the gumbo train. Gumbo is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Here's Tyler. Tyler is half black, half white, a Jew and transgender. Can you imagine what it's like for him to fill out job applications? Tyler's been a performer for 11 years and plays a wide variety of musical instruments. --See the theme? Tyler is a student at Vanderbuilt and Lady Gaga is his inspiration. --You aren't surprised about that, are you my Little Monsters?
