15: It's A Whole New World
With new characters, storylines and the movie practically being a reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man presents a whole new world for fans to get into, one that may bring out many new characters and villains we've been eager to see.
14: The On-Screen Love Isn't Forced
Before, the storyline of Peter Parker and Mary Jane was so well known, that it seemed forced. Every installment made us think that Mary Jane would undoubtedly get into some sort of danger and then who else but Tobey Maguire would have to rescue her. In the new film adaptation, the couple aren't as predictable and the chemistry feels real.
13: Spider-Man Is Indeed Spider-Man
Compared to the original big-screen series, the new Spider-man actually talks, moves and fights bad guys like he's supposed to, and that's excluding the precise movements the movie's crew took into consideration when focusing on Spider-man's abilities.
12: It Sticks To The Comic Book
Despite a few character flaws here and there, The Amazing Spider-Man sticks to the original comics and storytelling of the web-slinger's personal history and battles with enemies that are villains or a part of his everyday life as Peter Parker.
11: Stan Lee Makes His Best Cameo Yet
It's hard not to describe a cameo without including spoilers but out of all the movies he's appeared in throughout his career, Stan Lee's best scene in a film can be found in The Amazing Spider-Man.
10: There's A New Peter Parker In Town
Though he was cherished for his role at the beginning, Tobey Maguire annoyed Spider-Man fans as the comic's first film series went on. Now, there's the new guy Andrew Garfield, who along with spending a lot of time getting involved in his role, actually has a better sense of humor.
9: It's More Realistic
As Webb didn't want to rely heavily on CGI, the director used actual actors and stuntmen to portray different roles, including Spider-Man, slinging them from 200 to 300 foot riggings in Harlem, NY, to capture the feel of the superhero's notable power.
8: The Roles Are Well-Researched
While actors are supposed to "get into" their roles to prepare for a movie, most of the cast went above and beyond before filming. In order to play the part of Dr. Curt Connors, Rhys Ifans spent numerous hours with individuals who had lost a limb, learning how to tie a tie, make coffee and do other tasks with only one hand.
7: There Are Plot Twists
Or are there? Since most movies don't stay true to their original forms, The Amazing Spider-Man is tweaked a bit when it comes to the storyline. One example being the inclusion of Gwen Stacy who doesn't play a vital role in The Amazing Spider-Man series for an immense amount of time.
6: It's The First Of A Trilogy
Though it wasn't confirmed until recently, the Amazing Spider-Man will be a part of a trilogy as the original film series was. There's no word yet on plots or villains but Sony has already hired writers and crew members for the upcoming sequels.
5: It Was Filmed In 3D
Like most action/animation films released today, The Amazing Spider-Man was filmed in 3D using the new RED Epic camera which allowed the crew to portray the leading character in different web-slinging action scenes around the city.
4: Most Of The Stunts Are Real
Instead of letting digital graphics take the helm, action director Vic Armstrong was brought in to coordinate the film's stunts. Incorporating parkour not only helped create a few incredible scenes but allowed most of the cast, including Andrew Garfield, to refrain from using doubles.
3: There's A New Leading Lady
Taking over for Kristen Dunst is the impractical Emma Stone who not play the role of Mary Jane, but instead Gwen Stacy. In the comic book series, Stacy was Spider-Man's first girlfriend and high school sweetheart.
2: A Webb Of Romance
Director Marc Webb wasn't chosen to handle the new Spider-Man series based on his surname but it was due to his creativity and his ability to attract the female audience. His other hit film? 2009's 500 Days Of Summer.
1: Introducing: The Lizard
Dr. Curt Connors, commonly known as The Lizard, makes his first appearance (finally) in Spider-Man's move to the big screen and it may be well worth the wait as CGI hopes to improve his look that started in his comic book debut in 1963.
