14: Chanel Haute Couture Manicure
In case you missed it, this striking style accompanied Chanel's fall 2012 haute couture line. And as it is currently fall 2012, well...
13: Dark and Earthy
Fall is usually all about earthy colors, and this year is no exception. But now we're seeing really gorgeous dark earth tones, deep greens, purples, and rusts that are definitely new.
12: Neutrals
Pastels in cool colors, like purple and green, tend to look Easter-y. But pastels in warm colors, like pink and brown, are great for fall.
11: Metallic
Metallic nail polishes are like a pair of heels: they're an easy way to dress up an otherwise everyday ensemble. A French manicure is classy, but office-classy. A French manicure with metallics? Now it's a party!
10: Magnetic
Okay now hold up. Because this might just be the coolest nail polish ever. So get this: the polish contains particles which form patterns when you put the magnetic cap near your nail. Awesome.
9: Duochrome
Duochrome polish is a quick way to get a unique look. It looks different in different lighting and appears to change colors when you move you fingers. Just don't get distracted during meetings.
8: Patterned
Why just stick with multicolored nails when you can have detailed patterns? There's a few ways you can get this look: use nail stickers, a stamper, or if you're feeling particularly artsy, you can freehand it.
7: Textured
We're loving this marbled look from this past New York Fashion Week. It's a bit more than a solid color, a bit less than intricate patterns.
6: Nouveau French #1
Here's an easy way to spice up a French manicure on short nails: instead of a thick white stripe on the tips of nude-painted nail, try a thin line of color to top it off. A simple twist on a classic.
5: Nouveau French #2
But why stick with just color to shake up your French tips? Add textures and pattern! Add netting and lace!
4: Glitter Confetti
Remember those bright sparkly top-coats you had a decade ago? They're back! And they're better than ever. We're talking multi-color, multi-size glitter. Totally fabulous!
3: Moon Manicure
The moon manicure was big in the 1930s. It's a pretty simple idea: instead of painting the tips of your nails like a French manicure, you paint the little half moon at your nail beds. We're not sure if we can totally credit Dita with bringing this style back, but we're thinking she had a hand in it.
2: Matte
This trend has been around for a while, but it's perfect for fall. Matte nail polish gives you an awesome look and it's easy!
1: Nail Art
If nothing else, just have fun with it! Nail art is big this season, so paint some flowers, hearts, whatever! Us, we've been meaning to try galaxy nails.
